Meet Dakota Harris

Hi! My name is Dakota! I have been apart of Camp Big Heart since 2012 and have had the privilege to serve in many different capacities - currently I serve as a part of support staff team. I believe in the importance of advocating for those with exceptional abilities; including giving everyone the opportunity to attend summer camp. A plus is getting to share that love and passion with others who work at CBH! Outside of camp I am an K-2 ASD teacher in Augusta, Ga. This past year my husband and I had our son (who will obviously volunteer at camp when he’s old enough). In my free time I enjoy spending time with family, traveling and recently picked up the hobby of painting banners!

Camp Big Heart has been a part of my life for about half of my life. I began as a volunteer, was a unit leader, an activity leader, and now I have the opportunity to serve as support staff. At a very young age, CBH showed me my passion for working with individuals as a part of the special needs community. It has given me the chance to advocate for inclusivity in all aspects of life - even at summer camp! It brings me so much joy being able to help our campers have the best summer every summer, especially those who have returned year after year. Being a part of the staff for CBH has not only allowed me to serve others but has also given me countless memories, experiences and opportunities that I will cherish forever. I aspire to share my love for CBH with others in hopes that they will love it as much as I do!
